Inspired by the works of Keri Smith, Explorer of the World Art Camp has campers exploring life around them to create art pieces into their own “Life Museum”. Art can be found all around us in the world, the campers will be encouraged to find art in the world around them using their five senses, creativity and atypical mediums to create their own “Life Museum”.

Summer 2024 | July 8 – 12

Move over Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel, Glee Kids Music Camp is here! Over the course of a week, campers will learn foundational skills such as singing unison and harmony, basic choreography and formations in trios, small groups and the whole ensemble! Campers will perform their work in a showcase at the end of the week.

Summer 2024 | July 15 – 19

Campers will break down the Elements of Art composition by exploring each one with creative prompts in their art journal. Concepts include: shape, space, texture, form, color, line, and value. Campers will develop their understanding of art basics with fun prompts and projects that will be displayed in the Camp Gallery.

Summer 2024 | July 22 – 26

Campers will get in touch with their inner world and identity through art! Mediums include (and are not limited to): Watercolor Paint, Acrylic Paint, Collage, Markers/Crayons/Pencil Crayons, and Mixed Media. Over the course of a week, campers will create their own “Life Book”that showcases the essence of their unique self through art. 

Summer 2024 | July 29 – Aug 2

Campers will work on a repertoire of traditional and modern Canadian Music over the course of four days leading to a showcase at the end of the week. Campers will learn two songs each day (it is recommended campers practice each night to feel more comfortable with the pace of the week). Campers will work on blending their voices with their peers, parts and harmony, and building performance confidence. Showcase attire will be all black (bottoms and tops).

Summer 2024 | Aug 6 – 9

Campers will break down the Elements of Art composition by exploring each one with creative prompts in their art journal. Concepts include: shape, space, texture, form, color, line, and value. Campers will also work with the Principles of Design including: contrast, balance, emphasis, proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, pattern, white space, movement, variety, and unity. Campers will develop their understanding through exercises in their art journal and culminating in a large project that will be displayed in the Camp Gallery.

Summer 2024 | Aug 12 – 16

Family Yoga (2 - 10 yrs + parents)

Yoga helps to enhance body awareness and build strength and flexibility. Yoga has positive benefits on everyone regardless of their natural physical capabilities. “Yoga is a fun way for children to develop a variety of important skills in a nurturing, non-competitive environment.” (Rainbow Kids Yoga)

Yoga has many positive health benefits such stress and tension reduction, improved digestion, better body alignment and posture, increased focus, deeper breathing, and learning to be more centred and feel a deeper calm. Yoga can play an important role in developing the physical, emotional and cognitive sense of being. This family yoga class is designed for a fun and engaging active play time with music, stories, and games.

Introductory to Elementary Music (7 - 10 yrs)

This class is created to promote music literacy through active music making in a small social group. Many children have not had music class before or are wishing to become more literate prior to enrolling in private lessons. Classes will be filled with chances to sing, and move, time to play with improvisation, composing rhythm patterns and lyrics, in addition learning about music history and theory. We will create music every class and learn different ways to be more musical in our lives.

Stop Motion/Animation for KIDS! (7 - 12 yrs)

Kids have fun with lego, playdough and video! We bring them all together in to this super fun class.

The participants will learn the process of making a short animation film made from lego or playdough using stop motion techniques the same as all the new lego movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas and other films that you may not think of, such as the special effects from the original Star Wars series.

Class will include:

  • story structure
  • Scripwritting
  • character creation
  • Shooting a stop motion video
  • Post production on premiere

Theatre for Imagination (5 - 12 yrs)

Children have a natural inclination to imagine themselves inside their favourite movie or show.  This program gives them the opportunity to step into the Theatre of Imagination.  With guidance from working professionals they can become Kristoff, Moana, Gaston, Maribel, or anyone their hearts fixate on. This program will help your child develop their singing voice, confidence, and physical co-ordination.  This class will focus on the basics of introducing movement to song, the concept of adopting a character, and interacting with a peer for a scene.  This 60 minute class will be divided between singing, acting, and choreography with a performance to cap the semester.
