Ethan Disler QuintetThe Ethan Disler Quintet is led by trumpet player Ethan Disler, and performs a vast number of genres including bebop, swing, Latin, and blues. All music is original arrangements composed by Ethan Disler and will include well-known standards to the jazz community.

Ethan Disler is a fourth-year student at the University of Calgary pursuing a Bachelor of Music in the Jazz Studies stream. He has been playing trumpet for 10 years and has studied the jazz language and nuances through instructors such as Johnny Summers. He is an active member in the jazz community and has frequently played with the University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra, Calgary Youth Jazz Orchestra, Jazz YYC Youth Lab Band, and is on the board of directors for the Calgary Jazz Orchestra Society.

Jeremy Brown is currently Professor of Music at the University of Calgary, where he directs the saxophone studio, the Jazz Orchestra and teaches courses in improvisation and music education. His recent book The Wind Band Music of Henry Cowell (Routledge Press, 2018) includes definitive recordings of Cowell’s band music with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s winds, conducted by Dr. Brown. In addition, he was series editor and lead compiler of the inaugural Royal Conservatory of Music Saxophone Series (Frederick Harris Music, 2014), a multi-volume saxophone anthology with graded repertoire, etudes, technical studies and orchestral excerpts.

Derek Stoll obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the University of Calgary. He has composed works for concert band, jazz band, small ensembles and solo instruments. Mr. Stoll has traveled extensively with show bands throughout Canada, the US and Japan. He studied jazz and brass performance at the Banff Centre. He has taught science and music in the BC school system, and was the Director of Musicamrose (Alberta Summer Music Workshop Association) from 1989 to 1995. He has lectured at Boston University, and is a consultant for Conservatory Canada’s Contemporary idioms syllabus. He teaches jazz piano at Mount Royal University in Calgary and is currently active as a performer, clinician, adjudicator, and composer. He is a Board Member of the Calgary Arts Summer School,  and the Classic Aircraft Collection and Restoration Society.

Adam Pettigrew recently completed his studies for a Bachelors of Music at the University of Calgary, studying piano under Marilyn Engle and Lana Henchell. Since then, he has been performing in and around Calgary on bass, as a sideman at numerous venues including Asylum for Art, and Betty Lou’s Library.

Jeevan Gill is a fourth-year student at the University of Calgary pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, and a Minor in Music. He has been playing the drum set for eight years and has performed in several jazz ensembles including University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra, Ambrose University Jazz Combo, JazzYYC Youth Lab Band, and the Calgary Youth Jazz Orchestra. Additionally, Jeevan has a piano performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music
