P Jacob Fossum

P Jacob Fossum will present both composed and improvised music for his electro-acoustic piano. For the past two years he has worked on combining electronic and acoustic elements in the physical space of his native musical playground: the piano. Fusing the two complimentary worlds of electronic and acoustic music, this project seeks to blur where one ends and the other begins. Using transducers, contact mics, feedback loops and all manner of synthesizers and sound sources, the music travels from soundscapes to poly-rhythmic grooves and everywhere in between. Born and raised in Canada, and having cut his teeth in New York, P Jacob has been moulded into a multidimensional artist. From ambient to avant-garde, bebop to baroque, indie-rock to impressionist he merges these influences in an inventive and expressive manner. He has shared the stage with the likes of Tyshawn Sorrey, Ingrid Jensen, William Bell, Nir Felder, Val Jeanty, among others and has studied with Reggie Workman, Kirk Nurock, Jane Ira Bloom, and Sam Yahel.
