The Show…

Ventanas is a six-piece Toronto-based world music ensemble fronted by powerhouse vocalist and dancer Tamar Ilana (Jewish-Indigenous) and featuring the city’s finest world musicians. Drawing inspiration from such legendary artists as the Silk Road Ensemble, Paco de Lucía, and Yasmin Levy, they reimagine Mediterranean melodies and flamenco grooves, and mix contemporary interpretations of ancient ballads with original compositions.

Tamar Ilana – vocals, dance
Demetri Petsalakis – oud, keys
Jessica Deutsch – violin, vocals
Benjamin Barrile – flamenco guitar
Tyler Emond – upright and electric bass
Derek Gray – drumset, percussion

“Tamar has a power in her performance that is completely joyful and transportive. I’m a huge admirer!”
– Leslie Feist

“Tamar’s generosity of spirit and mastery of her performance create[s] a wave of infectious, unstoppable momentum on stage.”
– Jim Creeggan, Barenaked Ladies

“This band could go head to head with any punk rock band”
– Errol Nazareth, CBC Big City Small World

“Anywhere in the world, this act would entertain”
